Jen's Experience: I was drawn to this eyeliner first for the rich black color (and being made by Laura Mercier certainly didn't hurt). I was a little disappointed when I first started using it. Wet or dry, it goes on very lightly -- you really have to layer it on to get any appreciable color to it. So, I guess in that respect, it's totally mistake-proof. I got the best color results using the Laura Mercier Wet/Dry Definer Brush that I got last year. It does blend nicely and makes it very easy to get the smoky eye look going on. Unfortunately, it does tend to smear a little if you wipe your eyes, so I tend avoid this one when I'm going to be staring at a computer screen all day. Otherwise, it does a pretty nice job of staying put and lasting throughout the day. Any doubts that I've had about it have been erased just by all the compliments I get when I wear it.

NY Fashion Week: "Fresh Out of the Water" at Herve Leger by Max Azria

The inspiration for the look at Herve Leger by Max Azria was the girls from the Bond movies. The make-up artist wanted to highlight beautiful skin with honed bones. The focus of the look? A wet eye, which they achieved with MAC gold Pigment. The eye was outlined with MAC Technakohl Eyeliner in Photogravure to give it an additional punch along with a nice coat of MAC Plushlash. To give additional focus to the eyes, the artist used a "chalky" lip. Beyond a simple nude, it was a pale, pale matte pink that had the effect of erasing the lips from the model's face.

The result was a simple, sophisticated look that is pretty and wearable for those with warmer skin tones. If you've got blue undertones, you can still achieve the look, but I would recommend a little more color on the lips to avoid looking frostbitten.
