Origins Organics™ Nourishing Face Lotion

originsorganics.jpgWhat They Say: "Helps restore moisture and softness to skin, protects against moisture loss and free radical damage. Absorbs quickly. For all skin types.

When it comes to softening and soothing, rough, dry faces, is there anything quite like Organic Shea Butter (extracted from naturally harvested Karite Nuts) blended with Organic Cocoa Butter (from high quality beans)! Processed without chemicals, these two weightless butters have a super smooth texture, plus vital nutrients and antioxidant benefits. There's also Organic Glycerin from vegetable oil and Linoleic acid-rich Organic Sunflower Oil to hydrate and soothe and Organic Coconut Oil to help skin dodge signs of dehydration. Patent Pending Formula.

Origins own blend of Organic Clove, Rose, Lavender, Patchouli and Red Thyme Essential Oils helps protect the purity of this product.

HOW TO USE: Apply twice daily after cleansing."

Melissa Says: As a general purpose face lotion, this is a winner. You will still need a sunscreen if you want to use this as your main facial lotion, but if using something that is pure and organic is important to you, you'll be glad to know that this hydrates the skin without leaving it greasy - instead it is soft and supple. The clove and other ingredients do create a significant scent which you may or may not love, so if you aren't sure check it out in the store first before buying it. In all other respects, there's a good possibility you will be very glad to have this new option when looking for organic skincare to nourish your face. The price tag isn't low, but it may very well be worth it to you.

Retail Price: $42.50 / 1 fl. oz. (at origins.com or at a retail location near you)

What They Say: "Your skin hasn’t a care in the world when stimulating Ginkgo Extract, firming Birch Extract and nourishing Soybean Oil fortify it with everything it needs to face the day in a positive way. Origins potent blend of UV protectors, including nature’s own Titanium Dioxide, defray the rays. Vitamin E stops environmental no-goodniks. Skin runs smoothly sun up to sun down. And one whiff of the gung-ho Grapefruit aroma gives you a sense of can-do optimism."

Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This is one of my winter-time staples, for those days I want a thicker moisturizer to start the day with. It smells incredible and wakes up me AND my tired face.

Origins Drink Up 10-Minute Mask

What They Say: "When skin faces a marathon of dehydrating circumstances, fluid levels can run too low. The steady sips of moisture that sustain it under normal conditions simply don’t hold water. Smoothness evaporates. Skin feels tight and flaky. What it needs is a great big gulp. It’s all you can drink as nature’s cocktail of caretakers drown dry skin’s sorrows. Thirst-quenching Algae Extracts deliver an extra helping of hydration while emollient-rich Apricot Kernel Oil acts like a “fountain of youth”. Feel skin drink in the softness, lap up the luxury."

Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Heaven. That's all I can say. It's pure heaven. Of course, being an Origins product, it smells amazing. And if you've got parched skin? This will be your new best friend. It truly does give you lasting hydration, and makes you feel like a princess while you relax and just let it soak in.

User Tips: The directions for normal use say to apply a nice layer, wait 10 minutes, then wipe off gently with a tissue or cloth. This is great, but on nights when my face feels especially dry, stretched, and tight? I put it on and go to bed - and wake up with a much happier face the next morning.

Retail Price: $18.50 (origins.com)

Origins Flower Fusion Hydrating Lip Color

origins_lipstick.jpg

Jen Tried It: I always think of skin and body care when I think of Origins, but this lipstick may have me thinking otherwise. Now, the color I tried, "Winter Rose" was very mauve-y...frosted...I couldn't help but think wearing this was going to bring me back to junior high. Not so! With plenty of color and just a touch of shimmer when applied, the lipstick contained in these pretty pink tubes stays in place for hours. It's a little drier than I would like, but a pretty shade that really lasts makes this lipstick a huge winner in my book. Origins stores or online, $16.00.

We Review: Origins Eye Shadow

originseye.jpgMelissa Tried It: While I loved the sturdy little compact with big mirror inside, and the super-smooth texture, but unfortunately despite its claims to be crease-free and not "fizzle, flake or fade away", it consistently creased within an hour of application. I suppose a shadow base would help some, but if you aren't in the habit of using one, I'm sorry to say this won't be ideal. $14.00, at Origins.
