Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I have been really curious about several of the Lumene products as I've passed by its pleasant-looking display unit in the drugstore. And my mom says Vitamin C is great for your skin, so you know, I thought this could very well be worth a shot. Good news. It definitely was.

Just like Lumene's claim, this mask has a refreshing scent that is a great mini mood-lifter. The texture isn't thick, sticky or gloppy, which is also a plus. For an at-home spa moment, this is an amazing value with great softening benefits. *And you want to know a little secret? I actually like to apply this on my face before bed and leave it on through the night. My face ALWAYS looks a little more refreshed and brighter the next morning. For my combo skin, this soothes the dry areas and gives a nice glow.

Retail Price: $15.99 (drugstores everywhere)

Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Hmmmm...I've seen this brand in the drugstores lately and have really wondered what to think about it. Is it wrong for me to be attracted to its serene blue and white packaging? Well, that's not all I was looking at when I decided to try this facial mist. Especially with the summer heat, I've been looking for a way to refresh my skin even after I've got makeup on.

This mist goes on cool and super fine - so as far as freshening up goes, it's a winner. My husband felt it as he sat next to me in the car and some wasped over...he said "hey, that feels good!" And it seems to be very clean and pure. Also, I was concerned that this would add a lot of unwanted greasiness to my already combination skin (which acts up in the summertime). I've used this for about 2 1/2 weeks at least once a day, sometimes 3 or 4, and haven't noticed a significant increase in oiliness, which has made me very happy.

I have a feeling that I could get more prevalent moisturizing effects from another mist, which I'm going to look into in the near future. What I mean is that aside from just depositing water, perhaps something that deposits moisturizing ingredients as well. I hear good things about Clinique's facial mist. However, at the price, and for the purpose of adding some cooling moisture, this is an very acceptable option. I think I'll give Lumene's other products a try as well...

One big negative? Hellooooo? The spray canister is HUGE. I've put it in my large purse at work every day, but I'd love to see them make a travel size for smaller handbags or packing ease. It's about the size of a medium hairspray bottle. It's do-able, but would be better if it were a bit more portable.

$8.99 (drugstores)

Lumene Beauti-Full Plumping Lip Shine

lumenelipshine.jpgWhat They Say: "Full-Lip™ - 3D plumping effect: Maxi-lips ingredient helps to stimulate collagen, which makes your lips look fuller. Unique blend of light reflecting, wet shine pearls intensify the plumping effect. Brilliant Bright Smile gives your lips extreme wet-shine finish with sheer colour and it is enriched with lip moisturizing emollients. Anti-aging lipshine contains protective, anti-oxidant vitamins A, C and E. SPF 8.

Technology:
Full-Lip™ - 3D plumping effect: light-reflecting wet shine pearls together with Maxi-Lips ingredient make your lips look fuller."

lumenelipshinewear.jpgMelissa Says: Though the actual physical plumping effect is minimal (no stinging but very slight tingling at first), the sparkling shimmer in this formula does add quite a bit of depth to the lips. While it's a pretty gloss,, some of the shimmer remains after the lip color wears off or after you remove it if you're not very thorough. It can also tend to travel after a few hours to just beyond your lip line, ever-so-slightly. Aside from that, this sheer, pretty gloss is a decent drugstore option.

Lumene Unique Liner in Dark Blue

What They Say: "LUMENE UNIQUE LINER Eye Liner is a liquid liner, for intensive, long-lasting outlines. The sharp tip of the liner produces delicate, feathery results. Quick-drying UNIQUE LINER is easy to use, neat and weatherproof."

Jen's Experience: As I've mentioned before, I've never been much of an eyeliner wearer. When I would go out on the town, I might line my eyes, but it just wasn't my thing for everyday makeup. Well, the big trend in this season's fashion magazines is dramatic eyes and nude lips. Generally the opposite of my usual approach. But I thought I would give it a try, and this week, DeLush will be telling you about our experiences in searching for a great eyeliner!

I had high hopes for this eyeliner. I was sucked in by the pretty packaging, but I bought it for the bright blue color. This is a great color for daytime wear since it's less dramatic than a jet black, but more fun than a plain khaki color. What I don't like about this eyeliner is -- well, pretty much everything else.

I found this to be very difficult to apply. I thought it might get easier with practice, but so far that has not been the case. The little brush they provide is very stiff and makes it difficult to get close to the eyelash line, making for a more obvious line than I really care for. It is very liquidly, so when I apply it I have to refrain from blinking or looking around for an extended period of time so that I don't make a mess of my eyelids. And as for wear? Well, there's not much left by lunchtime. Not at all like my previous liquid eyeliner, Blinc's Kiss Me Eyeliner, which won't budge until it's forceably removed.

Overall, this is definitely a great color to check out, but I would choose another brand, like Blinc. Or perhaps you'll find your perfect liner among one of the other brands that we'll be covering this week!
