Bioelements Vitalization

bioelementsvitalization.jpgWhat They Say:
  • Regulates moisture to banish dryness
  • Smoothes away brittle surface cells
  • Restores radiance to skin
  • Encourages a firmer body
  • Surrounds skin with the enticing aroma of ten botanical oils

Active Ingredients
PURE BOTANICAL OILS: (Apricot Kernel, Olive, Rice Bran, Grape, Black Currant, Sunflower Seed Oil, Bergamot, Cardamon, Clove) These 100% pure plant oils provide protection from dehydration, add softness and suppleness, provide radiance to dull skin and create an aromatic experience.

SHEA BUTTER: Protects from dehydration.

RED TEA: Flavinoid-rich antioxidant. Protects against free radical damage.

BETA-CAROTENE: A powerful antioxidant that converts into vitamin A; Helps smooth skin.

Melissa Says: This is meant to be a very rich moisturizer, and it is just that, without being greasy or slick. In fact, it might be a little bit more thick than you're anticipating. Aside from the fact that it will seal in moisture, another good reason to apply it after a bath or shower is that it will help the cream spread just a little easier that way.

You'll also notice a slight firming sensation after applying this product - not like an itchy or uncomfortable tightness, but like the skin is soaking up the moisture. One thing to take note of as well is the strong initial scent of the cream, which is mostly indicative of the clove in the ingredients. Personally I like the warm herbal scent, and it isn't incredibly intense after it's been on a while.

Your skin will be left comfortably hydrated and soft after using this intense moisturizer.

Bioelements Flash Foam Cleanser

    What They Say:
  • Foaming daily cleanser and mild exfoliant
  • Power-packed with exfoliating pumpkin, papaya and pineapple enzymes; plus, antioxidant-rich green tea extract and moisture-boosting vitamin B5
  • Dissolves dirt, dead cells and makeup in one step
  • No artificial colorants, synthetic fragrance or animal by-products. Not tested on animals

Jamie’s Thoughts: My skin is relatively low-maintenance, so I have always given more thought to the residual elements I use – moisturizers, serums, etc., than I have to what I’m using to cleanse my skin. Now I know better.

Two quick pumps is all you need, and after only a few days I had already begun noticing that my skin looked more even. The enzymatic exfoliants do a really nice job of sloughing off dull, dead skin and bringing fresh skin to the surface – no gritty face paste here! The cleanser is soft, light, reduces the medium sized pores on my nose considerably, and rinses clean. Oh, and it does a fantastic job of taking makeup off, just like it claims.

Even though it’s 4 degrees below zero outside, I still have skin that looks bright, flush, hydrated, and healthy.

Review: Bioelements Warm Glow Face Tint

biowarmglow.jpgWhat They Say: "Gives your complexion a sun-lit glow

  • Can be used on all skin types
  • Lightweight formula won't clog pores or smother skin
  • Contains nine essential oils plus botanical extracts of rosemary, white tea, raspberry and peppermint to help invigorate and revitalize skin
  • No synthetic fragrances
Not tested on animals.

How to Use: Using fingertips, apply to forehead, cheeks and chin for a warm glow with a hint of bronze. May be worn alone or under foundation."

Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I have to admit some reservation when trying this product, at least at first. I haven't met many face tints that don't either look incredibly unnatural or prove hard to blend in (or both!). And honestly, I have never felt the real need to use one except possibly in summer months as a light substitute for foundation.

The color that came out of the tube? It scared me. It seemed awfully dark and bronze...I was nervous. But it actually did apply much more sheer than one would think. It also didn't look NEARLY as shimmery on my skin as I had anticipated, but was instead extremely subtle. Under a little bit of foundation, this actually did give my skin an extra "something"...a little more of a glow - not a shine, but a glow. I just looked like maybe I wasn't quite as pale as I actually am. Also, it doesn't look unnatural and glides onto skin smoothly.

I will say that you need to be sure to check very carefully after you apply this, looking at your hairline and edges of where you used it to make sure it is completely blended in. Otherwise you will likely have some obvious excess in certain spots.

This would probably not work well for those of you with a lot of acne, as the slight sheen may emphasize blemishes. It also only comes in one shade, which although incredibly sheer, may not be flattering on very fair skin tones (you may want to try their Healthy Glow Face Tint instead).

While I like this as an extra touch occasionally, I still don't think I'm the type that would use something like this every single day. It is nice under foundation, or if you want just a touch of color and don't like to wear a lot of makeup, this could be something for you.

Review: Bioelements Probotix Anti-aging Serum

What They Say:

  • Intensive overnight treatment
  • Contains a blend of probiotic actives immersed in nourishing milk proteins to help prevent wrinkles and loss of firmness
  • Creates an environment within the skin that allows it to regain its natural microflora balance and become more age-resistant
  • Clinical testing on topical probiotics shows that it helps strengthen skin, enabling it to resist aging at every stage of the process - from early to mature

No artificial colorants.
No synthetic fragrance.
Not tested on animals.

Jen's Experience: Sometimes it's hard to tell if skin care products are really doing what they're supposed to be doing, since everything you put on your face from your cleanser to your foundation can affect your skin in one way or another. Plus, how can you tell if something is making your skin more age-resistant?

Well, what I do know is that it's certainly not all the Halloween candy or my general stress level that is making my skin look so clear right now. I've been using this serum in the evenings for about a month now after cleansing and before my nightly moisturizer, and for the most part, my other skincare products and foundation cosmetics have remained pretty much the same. The most noticable difference to me is that in the past month, my skin feels much less dry. My night-time moisturizer seems to be working better as a result of this serum. I've also noticed that my skin is less irritable, resulting in a more even skintone. My skin is just healthier looking. If better-moisturized skin and clearer skin are the keys to anti-aging, they've definitely got a winner here. But even if the results I'm seeing don't slow the aging process, I still think this serum is still an excellent choice for your skin care routine to improve the overall appearance of your skin.

Review: Bioelements Tinted Undereye and Lid Smoother

bioelements-tinted-underey.jpgWhat They Say:

  • "Natural pigments actually float over skin, brightening the eye area
  • Exceptionally lightweight formula neutralizes dark circles and blurs fine lines
  • Contains Bioelements' exclusive MariBright Complex, a blend of Marigold, Golden Seal and Eyebright botanical extracts to heal, calm and soothe the eye area
  • Fragrance free
Not tested on animals.

How to Use: With fingertips, blend a small amount under eyes and on lids."

Melissa Says: Squeezing this out of the little tube, I didn't have a great feeling about it. This was because I'm used to putting something much lighter in shade under my eyes than this looks. It looks almost like a tinted moisturizer, and has the consistency of light liquid makeup. This first glance made me test it out on the back of my hand first, to see what the result would be. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the color sort of dissolved into my skin and blended in, and the result was a supersmooth finish with a barely perceptible sheen. Okay, sounds good! And so, the next step was applying it to my eyes.

Each time I used this, I felt like it did indeed glide over my undereye area. I wouldn't say that it disguised my dark circles the way I like them to be hidden on the worst days, but when they weren't so bad, this helped diminish the look, and I also thought it helped relieve a bit of eye puffiness as well. It held up fairly well, but at the end of the day (after work), it seemed a bit dry and therefore the smoothing effect on teeny lines was finished. However, I have to give it some credit for making me feel like my eyes looked more refreshed for most of those days.

As a lid smoother, I didn't see much point. I didn't notice an increase in shadow slip while using it, which was my main concern. Yet while I liked the immediate smoothing effect, I thought it was kind of a moot result by the time my shadow went over it.

One More Thing: I tried this both under foundation and over foundation. The effect was similar, but I did prefer to apply it under the eyes after applying my foundation.

I think I'd use this more in summer than winter, because of the extra bit of natural color that will make me feel less like I need the assistance of my regular concealer. While not really necessary, it did have some visible benefits...but it didn't exactly WOW me, either.

Review: Bioelements Tinted Balm for Fuller Lips, SPF 15

bioelements-tinted-balm.jpgWhat They Say:

  • Ultra-conditioning balm increases lip volume and adds healthy, natural color
  • SPF 15 provides total UVA and UVB sun protection
  • Emollient castor seed oil, shea butter, avocado and sweet almond oil smooth vertical lines and rough texture
  • No synthetic fragrances

Not tested on animals.

How to Use: With fingertips, apply a small amount to lips. May be worn alone or prior to applying lipstick.

Melissa Says: I really love the subtly pretty, sheer pinkness of this balm - which happens to look as pretty as a light gloss. It takes about 2 hours for before I feel the need to reapply, and it does make lips very soft. However, I didn't notice any plumping or increase in lip volume. If anything, I'd say that the smooth look created by the balm combined with the natural-looking slight flush gives merely a visual appearance of fuller lips. While there are balms I've tried that leave more lasting softness, I do still like this one for its slight color and smoothing shine.
